Chart Of SRI Values

Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) Chart: Discover Berridge’s Comprehensive Guide To Cool Roofing Solutions.

Berridge Manufacturing simplifies choosing roofing materials by converting solar reflectance (SR) into SRI ratings. With our expertise, you can effortlessly identify high-performance products that enhance energy efficiency and contribute to a cooler, more sustainable building environment. Explore how options like Berridge’s Kynar 500®/Hylar 5000® cool metal roof colors can reduce energy costs and improve comfort. Choose Berridge and make informed, impactful decisions for your projects.

What Is SRI Value?

The Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) is a crucial metric in roofing that measures a material’s ability to reflect solar heat and its overall effectiveness in keeping buildings cool. A high SRI value indicates better performance in reflecting sunlight and reducing heat absorption, which can lead to lower energy costs and improved indoor comfort. For roofing materials, a good SRI value is typically above 78, signifying superior reflective properties.

SRI To SR Conversion

To convert between SRI and solar reflectance (SR), you can use formulas and charts provided by standards organizations such as ASTM International and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

SRI is derived from both the material’s solar reflectance and thermal emittance. In roofing, understanding SRI helps in selecting materials that contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability, ultimately reducing the urban heat island effect and enhancing building performance.

Solar Reflectance Index (SRI)

Incorporates both solar reflectance and thermal emissivity in a single value. SRI measures the roof’s ability to reject solar heat, defined such that a standard black (reflectance 0.05, emittance 0.90) is 0 and a standard white (reflectance 0.80, emittance 0.90) is 100.

Recycled Content Of Berridge Metal

Berridge metal products have a high recycled content and are 100% recyclable at the end of their lifespan. Using building products that incorporate recycled materials helps reduce the impacts resulting from the extraction and processing of natural resources. Post-consumer steel recycled content: 25.6% Pre-consumer steel recycled content: 6.8% Total recycled content: 32.9%

LEED® Compliance

The use of Berridge Manufacturing metal roofing products can directly contribute up to two LEED v4 credits for Heat Island Reduction, but when a “whole building design” approach is implemented, metal roofing combined with other concerted efforts, products and building systems can contribute to other LEED v4 credits. Reference the technical section at www.berridge.com for more information. While every effort has been made to provide accurate information, applicants for LEED certification should verify compliance with a LEED expert.
