Holland Roofing was founded by Hans Philippo in 1986. At that time the company had ten employees and less than two million dollars in revenues. Today, Holland Roofing Group has eleven offices, employs over two hundred people and have revenues in excess of thirty million dollars. The company has experienced phenomenal growth during the past few years, with revenues up eighty-three percent in 1997 over 1996. The Holland Roofing Group is the 13th largest roofing company in the United States and ranks among the Top 100 specialty contractors according to Engineering News Record magazine (ENR).
Much of Holland Roofing Group’s success can be attributed to Hans Philippo’s unique philosophy about its managers of subsidiary companies: each subsidiary president owns the largest share of stock, the Vice President of Sales and Controller/Bookkeeper each own a percentage and Hans and his partner Paul Klensch own the remaining percentage. This policy and hiring the right people are two key elements of the company’s growth record.
The popularity of architectural metal panel systems has also been a factor in Holland Roofing Group’s rapid growth. Holland took possession of their initial Berridge Model SS-14 Portable Rollformer in 1988. The company found that the use of site-forming equipment gave them a decisive advantage in saving their customers time and money. Notes Hans Philippo: “The Berridge Total Program Concept works for us — We can order coil ahead of time, then the moment the project is ready, we can start installing roof panels — there are no delays and no shortages!”
